Fuel Economy of Ford's SUVs Decreases
After reneging on a pledge to raise their SUV fuel economy standards, Ford announced that the average fuel economy of its sport utility vehicles will be worse for the 2003 model year than the previous year.

Nearly one in five suburban households in the Washington area has three or more cars, trucks or sport-utility vehicles parked outside. As more people have moved to the area in the past decade, the number of vehicles has climbed steadily.
