Fuel Economy Calculators

Interested in fuel economy for your car? Are you looking at buying a new car and unsure about how much difference it will make to buy one with a better fuel economy?

The Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have teamed up to offer a web site, http://fueleconomy.gov, that contains information on most vehicles from 1985 to 2003. It will list the miles per gallon (mpg), fuel cost, and annual greenhouse gas emissions, as well as some safety information and vehicle statistics. Up to four different cars can be compared side by side (use http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/sbs.htm).

Gas mileage tips

Once you have chosen a car, these tips can help you get the best gas mileage and therefore decrease your emissions as much as possible: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/drive.shtml.

A printable fact sheet of this information is available with 2 per page, and is suitable as a bulletin or newsletter insert: Fuel Economy Calculators (PDF).
